Darwin (12 to 15 March 2006)

Blogger's being a bitch of late. The interface was not user friendly and I've had difficulties loading photos. I'm sure it's a conspiracy with Microsoft to make online programs hostile towards Mac users..in the hope that loyalists like me will switch back to Windows. Fat hope to both! :P

I was viewing some photos of past trips and it was a struggle trying to recall the places that I went to and what I did on those trips. So I decided to embark on a little project to piece together some of my older trips to Darwin, Tassieland & Melbs, US, etc.

Day 1: Darwin city & Wharf

We arrived in Darwin early morning, picked up the rented car and went for a scrumptious breakfast of eggs, bacon, ham and the works. Thereafter, a stroll at the seaside...

Darwin wharf.
A visit to the Pearling Exhibition at the Wharf.
We stayed at the Darwin Backpackers Hostel.

Day 2: Kakadu National Park

"Kakadu National Park is a vast area with a huge array of habitats that include Savanna woodlands, monsoon forests, hills and ridges, stone country, floodplains and billabongs and tidal flats. Much of the area is not easily accessible but there are some wonderful walks amongst craggy escarpments, where Aboriginal rock paintings can be seen. The cultural art sites at Ubirr and Nourlangie are not to be missed. Mamukala Wetlands near the entrance to the park, has a large bird-hide where visitors can watch thousands of migratory birds and thirsty wildlife stop at the waterhole for a welcome rest The Bowali Visitors Centre and Warradjan Cultural Centre have displays for visitor information."

Didn't remember seeing any of these animals while we were there.
Abundant water lilies.
The marshland where we were supposed to see migratory birds but of course, we were there in the wrong season, so none were spotted :(
Dad & Mom.
Gigantic termite mound.
See how tiny we look in comparison to the termite mound.
Wild spear grass that can grow up to 2m!

Mom hiding in the tall spear grass.

Day 3: Litchfield National Park

Bro took a crap in this shack.
Of rivers, streams and waterfalls.

Unattractive bathers.
